Richard C's character in The Thornbirds was ambitious, I think I remember from reading it a very long time ago. He wanted to be a cardinal. I could be wrong. It's just odd that the governor would use that metaphor. Is he Catholic? Really, nothing that a politician does surprises me. Democrat, Republican, they're all loony.
