The Final Lip Dub Fansterpiece
15 Apr
The season finale of Flight of the Conchords came and went while we were in Australia (Bret and Jemaine are still shocked that we got out alive) so I realize this post is several weeks out of date, but I feel the need to complete my chronicles of New Zealand tourism posters on the show.
I’m sure fellow blogger KiwiBloke will agree that “It’s not boring in New Zealand.” That’s the final tourism poster title for this season. If you want to learn more about New Zealand’s thriving culture, scenery, and wildlife I highly recommend Kiwibloke’s blog and Catherine Sherman’s post on birds in New Zealand this year.
I flew Air New Zealand on the flight back to America and had the chance to review the early episodes from this season to see which posters I missed blogging about early on. I think I only missed two posters, “Woolcome to New Zealand” and “New Zealand: It’s Not Going Anywhere.”
The most exciting news is that Dave Walsh, the photographer whose images are on the posters in episodes #16-18 by Deputy Cultural Attache Murray Hewitt’s desk commented on the blog and you can see his beautiful photos and images of the FOTC posters on his website and on flickr.
I can’t wait for next season! And next season’s posters!

As a rabid “Flight of the Concords” devotee, once I learned (and it could have been via your blog) that they changed the posters for each episode, I became obsessed with reading what they said. I’ve shouted, “Hey Murray, move your head!” on more than one occasion. We flew Air New Zealand to London last year and NO, we weren’t served lamb.
Yes, the posters were brilliant, as they say! Janelle
It is still up in the air whether or not there is going to be a third season.
The FOTC are in the camp that you should not jump the shark and should cut it off at its prime like UK “The Office” and even Fawlty Towers.
The USA version of The Office has definitely jumped the shark, the storylines are weak and there are only so many stupid things Steve Carell can do.
What I think is happening is HBO is really pressuring them to make a 3rd series and they have not decided yet. They strike me as guys that are happy where they are, they don’t have the desire to make tons of money and live the LA lifestyle.
They just got married and so they want to be able to return home after a long tour they are currently on to rest and think about what to do next.
I’m still enjoying the Office, but I do think that Seinfeld should have quit a long time before it did, so I agree with your theory. And of course, I don’t think they should continue the show if “forced” they should only do it if it’s still fun. We don’t want them to get burnt out! Janelle
I love this song/video in all of its forms and varieties! This just proves (as if we FOTC fans needed proof!) that FOTC fans are the most creative people on the planet! As long as I’m doing acronyms, ROTFLMAO!
Thanks for the link to my Kea post! I need to write about kiwi birds now.
That’s right, we are the best! Janelle
