Is there something wrong with my eyes?

Why do “they” (whoever they is) make those authentication images on websites so incredibly hard to read? I feel like I’m doing a Where’s Waldo game every time they ask me to look the warped image of letters and numbers and try to discover what they are  in order to keep from getting spam. This last one, on my hotmail account, took me 5 tries to complete. They asked me for 8 characters – I swear I only saw 6! Am I the only one with this problem?

    I hate that too. Google is the worst!
